Camarillo: The New District Continues to Flourish

For five years, the Camarillo Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA), branded as Visit Camarillo, has been promoting overnight hotel stays with marketing programs and strategic partnerships highlighting the City of Camarillo.  The Official Visitor’s Guide and Pocket Map, a strong social media presence, the Visit Camarillo website, and the Tourism Center Kiosk are among the many projects spearheaded and maintained by the CHTA, which is funded by the Camarillo Tourism Marketing District (CTMD).  The CHTA also implements print and digital advertising to reach millions of people by targeting strategic markets that meet specific criteria to influence their travel plans.

Occupancy has increased markedly, ending at 81.6% for 2018, significantly higher than neighboring cities.  In fact, 2018 occupancy and revenue measurements were at their highest by over 7% since the inception of the CTMD in 2014. 

In May 2019, the CTMD was renewed for an additional term of 10 years beginning on December 1, 2019 – an unmistakable vote of confidence.  This prompt renewal also prevented a disruptive break in efforts towards ongoing success.  With an annual assessment rate of 2% of gross short-term room rental revenue and an initial budget is $580,000, the CHTA is well-positioned to benefit its stakeholders and its community for years to come!
