We are delighted to congratulate the Amador Council of Tourism (ACT) and the local lodging community on the successful formation of the Amador County Tourism Marketing District (ACTMD)! This incredible milestone reflects ACT’s unwavering commitment to enriching the visitor economy and strengthening local businesses across Amador County. All lodging businesses and short-term rentals within the boundaries of Amador County will have a 2% assessment on gross short-term room rental revenue. This will generate an additional $200,000 annually to fund the district’s initiatives throughout its five-year term.
From start to finish, the formation of ACTMD is a shining example of what dedication, persistence, and community collaboration can achieve. With leadership driven by passion and vision, ACT brought together lodging operators, businesses, and stakeholders to secure a sustainable future for Amador’s tourism economy.
Tracey Berkner, Owner of Rest Hotel and Taste Restaurant in Plymouth, said, “This marks a significant triumph for our community. A testament to the collaborative spirit of our volunteer board. Through tireless outreach and strong partnerships with the lodging community and local businesses, we’ve established a stable funding source that promises a prosperous future for Amador County tourism and economic stability.”
The ACTMD will invest strategically in marketing and development to grow overnight visitation and drive economic benefits across the region. Some of the key focuses for these funds will be:
- Online and traditional media advertising
- Trade shows, sales efforts, and FAM tours to promote local accommodations
- Collateral development, including maps and brochures
- Hospitality education and training
- Community grants to support events that draw visitors
These efforts will ensure Amador remains a top choice for tourists and provide direct value to local lodging businesses.
We applaud the Amador Council of Tourism for their perseverance and vision, and we look forward to witnessing the incredible impact of the ACTMD in the years ahead. Cheers to a bright future for Amador County tourism!
