Guest Post: New Skills for a Brave New World.

By: GDS-Movement

If you’re re-evaluating your relationship to everything right now, you’re in good company. It’s high time for rising hopes as global Covid-19 vaccinations slow down and climate change speeds up.

For the GDS-Movement, the real “code red for humanity” is that we need new narratives and fresh perspective so that we can unearth ideas and actions to nurture balance and well-being in a changing world. And this new knowledge needs to be shared widely and wildly if we are to see long-term benefits for all the planet’s inhabitants.

As we look to the new now for inspiration, that inspiration is, unmistakably, regeneration. Regeneration is when you leave a place better than you found it, socially, environmentally, and economically. Merely by being there and being part of.

It’s a movement gaining momentum as the world slowly opens up and consumers demand more sustainable travel. In response, the global tourism, events, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) sector is picking up pace and re-addressing “business as usual.”

Undoing the damage to date is no small task, naturally, but the urgency of our shared reality is  a powerful motivation for education, also, to focus on doing as much as on learning. Enter GDS-Academy, your bespoke incubation in co-creation and equitable knowledge transfer.

It’s for DMO professionals who are done drowning in despair and are now burning to manifest positive impact through tourism and events. The interactive knowledge platform offers DMO professionals a curriculum bursting with practical application, progressive principals, and accelerated, immersive learning. It uses regenerative frameworks, design-led thinking, and nurtures collaboration and interdependence amongst business leaders who are resilient, responsive, and courageous.

The GDS-Academy offers open-enrollment, online classes for professionals, and blended learning for organizations and destinations. It is divided into 2 formats:

  1. The GDS – ICCA – ECM Certificate in Regenerative Destination Management.
This is a 16-week learning journey designed to help experienced Destination Professionals to rethink, reimagine, and redesign their destination’s tourism and events strategy.
  2. Open-enrollment Masterclasses
These are action-oriented, standalone modules offering deep-dive learning to enhance skills and capacity in Regenerative Event Management and Storytelling and Communication Strategies for Regeneration (opens 22 September.)

The faculty is made up of experts in sustainable destination management and thought leaders in regenerative management practice and communications. Together, they facilitate profound learning experiences that are immersive, engaging, and fun.

The GDS-Academy is brought to you as a dynamic collaboration with ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) and ECM (European Cities Marketing) who are the strategic and certificate partners. Our Masterclasses are delivered in partnership with education partners Travel Foundation and #Meet4Impact.

If you need new skills in a new world, we urge you to enroll today.
